The Reform UK leader Claims Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Race Issues

Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by telling students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his perspective on British schools, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.

“I expect a teachers’ strike soon after winning the next general election,” Farage commented in response to questions.

“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this negative culture.”

In response to these assertions, the head of a major education union dismissed the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.

“Farage has built his political career on dog-whistle politics and now, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a fight,” Kebede stated.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”

Reform, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and does not appear to have designated an education lead.

Nonetheless, his comments suggested the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, years to turn this around.”

Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Honoring Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves rather than current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.

The politician has charged the union head with being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.

During the American gathering, Farage also vowed to promote the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He said such groups were “key to resistance”, noting: “I mean this. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to these educational programs. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”

The institution, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. It offers these excellent programs for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
