Slot Insists He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his position following another convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in twelve games, representing the team's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received a lot of support from above,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the belief. However I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Response

Slot highlighted recurring weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell such as this with results this poor.”

Jones stated, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
