Patrick Bamford Joins the Blades After Initiating Derogatory Songs Targeting Manager Wilder

The striker has signed with Sheffield United only seven months following starting disrespectful chants aimed at the team's coach, Wilder.

This experienced forward, a free agent after departing from Leeds, has agreed to a agreement with the Championship strugglers until January. Bamford's seven-year time with Leeds finished amicably in August.

Among Bamford’s last memorable actions as a Leeds player involved leading abusive songs about Wilder during Leeds' promotion celebrations in April. Now, the one-cap England player will be playing under Wilder as the Blades’ manager looks to lift the team he loves out of the drop zone.

Previous Conflict Between Bamford & the Manager

The pair had history before Leeds won promotion back to the top flight last season and United lost the promotion decider to Sunderland. Wilder called Bamford as “a muppet” when the roles were reversed during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United won automatic promotion whereas Leeds fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation and Looking Ahead

Everything seems has been forgiven and forgotten with Sheffield United, the league's least productive attack, in desperate need of improvement in attack while Bamford hoping to revive his career.

The song about Wilder gained traction this spring. An apologetic Bamford along with Leeds boss, Daniel Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Chris Wilder stated at the time: “Spoke with Patrick recently and I’ve no problem whatsoever with it. I'm uncertain regarding the language from a fellow professional! But I valued and respected him giving me a call.

“We spent 20 minutes and the same again I spoke to Daniel as well and we had a half-hour chat together and he is a great person, a class act. When I was playing we would dish it out and take it and that is an integral part of the game at every level, including Sunday league. I've got no problem at all. I am cool with the situation and I said that to Pat.”

Latest Career Struggles

The forward featured in 18 appearances with Leeds United in the previous campaign but the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea & Middlesbrough striker has faced difficulties with fitness issues in recent years.
