The Scottish side began their European campaign in ideal fashion with a valuable four-try win on the road against Sale.

Taking advantage of the elements at their backs, the hosts started strongly and raced to a fourteen-point lead within 20 minutes. Scores from the Sale skipper and teenage debutant Ollie Davies put them in command.

But, Glasgow fought back admirably with a pair of scores before the interval. Hooker Gregor Hiddleston and flanker Rory Darge both went over to narrow the gap.

Additional after the break scores from captain Kyle Steyn and centurion Stafford McDowall pushed Glasgow's lead to twelve points. Marius Louw's reply for Sale promised a nervous finale, but the visitors stood strong to secure a significant opening victory.

Warriors Take Control After Interval

The match started with a quick try as skipper Ernst van Rhyn scored from short distance after just two minutes. An early injury to midfielder Rekeiti Ma'asi-White brought 19-year-old Ollie Davies into the action for his European debut.

The youngster made an immediate impact. Switching to fly-half, he took a good angle to take an offload and touch down, extending the home side's lead.

Facing challenging conditions, Glasgow turned to their forward power to fight back into the contest. A strong line-out drive was touched down by hooker Hiddleston. Just before the half, Rory Darge barged over, with Hastings' conversion making it a two-point deficit at half-time.

Glasgow seized the advantage for the first occasion soon after the second half. A poor box-kick was gathered by No. 8 Jack Dempsey, who set up skipper Kyle Steyn to break a challenge and race away to the try-line.

With in the ascendancy, they secured the bonus point when McDowall ran through a tackle to score his 100th appearance for the team. This try completed a sequence of twenty-six consecutive points.

The hosts found a lifeline when Marius Louw showed good footwork to cross. The kick made it a one-score game with time left.

One last chance arose for them from a throw in the 22, but they lost the possession, sealing the Warriors' triumph.

Sale must bounce back ahead of a journey to face Clermont Auvergne this weekend. In contrast, Glasgow Warriors will host European giants Toulouse to Scotstoun.
