Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
