Admittedly, it's Packed with Nonsense, Extreme Hosting and Self-Help Jargon. However, I Honestly Adore Meghan's Christmas Special.

No considering the time of year, it's constantly open season for criticism on the Meghan Markle's televisual offering, With Love, Meghan. Critics, both professional and armchair, have seldom found such common ground as when enthusiastically shredding the series' first and second seasons to pieces. The common opinion held that a greater royal outrage had hardly ever taken place than the now-infamous pretzel-bagging incident.

Currently, like a merry renegade master, she is back with a new offering with a "Holiday Celebration" (aka a Christmas special). But this time, the dynamic has changed. The usual elements we've come to expect – vague self-help platitudes, extreme hosting – are still present, but framed of a yuletide episode, the purpose becomes clear. The elements have slid into place; it's a flawless festive blizzard.

At this stage, Meghan is like the oddball family member at the typical holiday get-together – offering unasked-for guidance, and supplying the periodic peculiar declaration. ("I love spinach!" … "A tradition has to have a beginning." … "A tree is part of my memory and love of the holiday season.") She's a bit of a character, but her aura is known and strangely comforting. And she looks pleased; she's causing a bit of damage.

She knows her every micro expression, word and glance will be dissected and criticised, but still appears relaxed and serenely untroubled.

It could be this is the first occasion in history where that old chestnut – "Don't listen, it's pure jealousy" – might be true. Because, let's face it, everything in Meghan's Holiday Celebration honestly feels delightful. Yes, it's all cringily ultra-extra, foolishness and over the top – but doesn't that represent precisely what Yuletide is for? And the words she speaks might be laughable, but the walk she's walking seems authentically beautifully curated.

Whatever she turns her beautifully manicured, diamond-adorned hand to, she accomplishes with style. Her cooking looks tasty, the festive decoration she creates is stunning, her presents are practically too exquisite to tear into. Not a single thing is mediocre or aesthetically displeasing – even the way she fastens her apron is stylish and elegant. She doesn't throw a dish in the microwave, it "has a moment", and she creases gift paper like an origami guru. She also seems to be thoroughly enjoying herself throughout. How could any cynical observer not be convinced, bursting with holiday spirit and left with a intense desire for crafted festive snaps or a crudites platter where broccoli is positioned in the shape of a Christmas ring?

Meghan had a career in acting for a living, naturally, but nonetheless, after the level of attention she has weathered since she became involved with Prince Harry, the love child of Meryl Streep and Judi Dench would have difficulty behaving this authentically. Her unwillingness to alter or even moderate her shtick, despite it being so constantly, internationally ridiculed, is weirdly comforting. In our volatile world, here is something we can depend on: Meghan will remain herself, come what may. We will always know where we are with her.

If you're still not buying what she's selling, a thought that will undoubtedly come as a reassurance: you are not obligated to. The UK has abolished mandatory conscription in this country, and were it to return, it would be improbable to include viewing With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. If, however, you decide to tune in and are overcome with longing about her picture-perfect Christmas, all is not lost either. Whether you're a duchess or a office worker, no kid truly appreciates the time and energy their mum puts in in December. So you can find comfort by envisioning Archie and Lilibet's faces when they unfold a beautifully scripted letter that says, 'I love you because you are brave,' from a handcrafted holiday countdown, instead of a sweet treat.
